The HDD Locator works side-by-side with the drill operator to safely guide the drill head underground, ensuring installations remain on design, avoid existing utilities, and meet project specifications.

A skilled locator does more than track a drill head—they help protect infrastructure, maintain production schedules, and ensure every bore is completed safely and efficiently. Through constant communication with the drill operator, utility owners, inspectors, and project management teams, our locators play a key role in delivering successful projects for our clients.

Our HDD Locators are responsible for:

• Tracking and guiding the drill head during all phases of drilling operations 
• Reading and interpreting drill locating equipment and telemetry systems 
• Maintaining bore alignment, depth, and directional accuracy 
• Identifying and avoiding existing underground utilities 
• Communicating continuously with the drill operator to make real-time adjustments 
• Reading utility locate marks, construction plans, and project drawings 
• Performing potholing verification and utility exposure when required 
• Documenting bore paths and collecting field data 
• Assisting with jobsite setup, restoration, and general crew operations 
• Supporting safety compliance and quality control efforts
